Idaho Candy Company sold to Sturdivant family in it’s 125th year. Continuing the tradition of local, private ownership intent on preserving Idaho’s signature treats.
Idaho Candy Company, a beloved local institution and the home of the iconic Idaho Spud Bar, is entering an exciting new chapter. The company has been acquired by the Sturdivant family with the goal of preserving the legacy and flavor that Idahoans have loved since 1901.
With this transition, Idaho Candy will continue its proud tradition of being family-owned and operated. The Sturdivant family follows in the footsteps of the Wagers family, who have preserved the brand in downtown Boise since the 80’s.
Paul Sturdivant brings specific experience in food production, having worked in chocolate, coffee, and tortilla manufacturing operations since leaving the U.S. Navy in 2014. Megan Sturdivant will handle all marketing and tell the Idaho Candy story. She has experience across the full marketing spectrum and is especially excited to improve efficiency and access to Idaho Candy online and direct to consumers.
“There aren’t many 100 year old brands left,” said Paul Sturdivant. “The Idaho Spud Bar and the Owyhee Butter Toffee are classics, up there with the Moon Pies and Goo Goo Clusters in the South East. We’re committed to being good stewards of the memories that people associate with these candies.”
In addition to continuing the production of fan-favorite treats like the Huckleberry Gems and Peanut Brittle, the Sturdivants plan to provide even more access to the historic downtown Boise factory and storefront.
The Sturdivant family looks forward to honoring the rich history of Idaho Candy while introducing new generations to its unique flavors and place as an Idaho brand.
